Great meet yesterday at the Mayfield Sectional from both teams. Mentor girls finished 5th of 16. Mentor boys 6th of 13. The Northeast District continues to be the premiere swimming district in the state of the Ohio with many of the top times. Mentor swimmers and divers qualifying on to districts were:

We had many great swims and several
other swimmers were right on the line of qualifying including both our girls
and boys medley relays that finished in 21st place. From the three NE sectional
meets (about 75 schools/teams) the top 40 girls in individual events and top 30
boys in individual events move on to the district meet at Cleveland State
University. The top 20 relays for both boys and girls qualify in each relay
event. For the district meet next weekend the process is repeated with the NW,
Central, SW, and our NE district then sending qualifiers on to state.
Swimmers qualifying have an
optional practice tomorrow Monday 2/16 at Spire. Swimmers will have to arrange
their own transportation (tomorrow only) as Mentor schools are closed for the
holiday and do not have busses available. Swim practice will remain at the
normal time for the remainder of the week (divers should be in touch with coach
Caimi for the diving practice schedule this week; we have been moved to Spire's
small pool as a result of the NCAA Division I Atlantic Ten Conference meet being
held in their large pool). The NE District diving competition will take place
Thursday 2/19 at CSU. Girls warm-up is at 10:30am and competition 11:30am, and
boys warm-up at 5:30pm and competition 6:30pm. Diving bus will be leaving at
8:00am. The NE District swimming competition will be held Saturday 2/21 at CSU
with warm-ups beginning at 10:30am and the competition at noon. Bus will be
leaving at 8:45am.
