Swim Team Update - Week of 8-19-19

Good morning everyone,

I hope that everyone had a fantastic summer vacation. I also wanted to take a moment to welcome you back to the school year! Remember that this year is a new opportunity to try your best! For those of you that achieved all of your goals last year, continue to put in the effort that led you to that success! If last year didn't quite go as you had planned, you get a brand new opportunity this year! Let's continue to make sure that excellence in the classroom is what drives us forward.

We are in need of volunteers for several concessions assignments this fall and our team carwash on Aug 25th. There are two signup sheets linked below. Please consider helping us out as these events are critical to the team being able to provide items that directly support each student-athlete in the program. For example, how many home swim meets we can host, bus snacks, team meal on our furthest away meet, awards night, team t-shirts, etc. By securing volunteers, it keeps all of these excellent items part of the program.

8-25-19 Car Wash Sign-up  (We do not have to wash the cars, just get them to stop)
Multiple Dates Fall Concessions Sign-up

Remember to check your schedules. You must be enrolled in and passing five classes, not counting physical education, to be eligible for athletics/extracurriculars with the schools. This rule is a state requirement. Please be sure when speaking with your guidance counselor to tell them you are an athlete. College Credit Plus classes, whether at Lakeland or another college/community college, are valued at how many credit hours the course is assigned. This can also be true of some Career Technical Education course offerings if they meet for multiple periods of the school day. Again, if making schedule changes, please check with your counselor and make sure they know you participate in sports.

We hope to be able to offer some optional fall conditioning/lifting opportunities as school gets underway. Look for a schedule on that shortly.

The last item is that the aquatics director at Lake Health reached out and is need of lifeguards. You can apply on the Lake Health website. You may certainly use me as a reference if applying there.

If you need anything at all or just want to stop by and say hi, I will be in F-105 and F-103 again this year.

Have a great start to the school year and remember to make good choices!
