High School Swim Team Update - Week of 2/13/23

Good afternoon everyone,

Fantastic job at sectionals yesterday! The boys won the sectional championship and the girls were runner-up. Swimmers combined to set an impressive 66 season-best times towards that effort! I am so proud of the hard work everyone put into doing their best this season! It is crazy to think about, but we have seen such tremendous improvement from just 60 days of practice! That says so much about your focus and work ethic when we are in the pool! Full results and top times have been updated on the team website. OHSAA has yet to post the official qualifiers list, but tentative qualifiers, reminders, and our schedule for this week are included below.

Reminders:
1.) Please try your hardest to attend practice each day on taper. We want to conserve energy as we drop the yardage and intensity of our final practices to set us up for the best possible time drops at our respective championship meets. This is a scheduled controlled drop with each day having a critical impact.
2.) Please be sure to practice the strategies for a good taper we have been talking about at practice. We want to be fully rested and ready to perform our fastest.
- Good night's sleep
- Good diet (especially pasta and vegetables Thursday/Friday)
- Avoid excessive hours staring at device screens
- Avoid activities that will take a lot of energy or that risk injury (lifting, hot tubs, skiing, etc.)
3.) Relay spots have been updated based on Saturday's sectional meet races. Our relay performances have been incredible! I absolutely wish we could run multiple because I know we have so many swimmers ready to contribute great performances! We make any adjustments with the goal to position the relays to drop even more time and continue to advance. Keep working hard as a group to make our relays the fastest they can be; it takes the collective effort of every team member to push them forward! Please note that spots are not final and are dependent on performance.

Mon 2/13 - Optional/make-up swim practice at UH Wellness 7:00-8:45 pm
Tue 2/14 - Swim practice at UH Wellness 2:45-5:00 pm
Wed 2/15 - Swim practice at UH Wellness 2:45-5:00 pm
Thu 2/16 - Swim practice at UH Wellness 2:45-5:00 pm
Thu 2/16 - Diving at CSU against District Meet. Start 6:00 pm
Fri 2/17 - Swim practice at UH Wellness 2:45-5:00 pm
Sat 2/18 - Meet at CSU against Districts. Bus TBA. Start 12:00 pm
